Grey birch logs

We've harvested several of our grey birch trees and are making some of the logs available for purchase. Each log is approximately 3 feet long and roughly 4 inches in diameter. This wood is soft and coarsely grained. Grey Birch bark has many medicinal uses and it is an excellent firestarter, even when wet.

Grey birch bark has traditionally been used by Native American tribes for its medicinal properties for treating infected cuts and wounds. Birch bark extract and its main component, betulin, have been shown to promote would healing and closure by stimulating keratinocyte migration and differentiantion, cells crucial for skin repair.

Grey birch also makes an excellent mushroom log as both Chaga and Birch Polypore love to grow in freshly cut wood.
